Last Day (Day After)

We completed the project. I emailed in our gantt chart. All team members were present. Update on my personal life. Being married to John is great! I love him and he loves me back. As Ali put it so well. Thanks Ali for the offer of snacks! It sounds great. Well I guess that is all for now.

We are Done

I just wanted to say we are finally finished with the project. Everyone did a great job contributing to the success of this report. This has been one of the best groups I have had since I started college 3 years ago. Thanks for the wonderful experience. Take it easy and good luck with the rest of your classes this semester.

So....

I know you all miss me already, being that the we just compelted our project like 5 minutes ago, but I thought I would give you all an update on my personal life. I have my boyfriend still, he sells cars. He loves me and I love him back. So that's all for now. I hope it stops raining so I can go get a tan outside.
This weekend I have to dog sit three nights in a row, so that's what i will be doing, I hope that all of you legal of drinking age are having more fun than me this weekend. Just think of me taking care of some dogs and then you will laugh your butt off and wish we had another project to do. (JUST KIDDING!)

LAST POST, LAST DAY...Team MATRS is breaking up.

So today is the final day we met. We completed our project in the word document and then transferred it into the Wiki. I emailed this URL again to LaDow, and filled out the memo of analysis. I think this project did a lot of good things, although there were some cons that came about. Overall I believe that our Recommendation Report is A+ worthy, and everybody should be proud of themselves. I just realized that I said I was going to bring snacks last Sunday and completely spaced. So I owe all of my team members a snack now. So if they want they are welcome to stop by my house I will whip something up for them that is both delicious and nutritious. But it probably won't taste like chicken. I will continue to blog when i think about it, just so i can catch up with the rest of my former team! HAVE A LOVELY SUMMER!

Last week of progress

On Sunday, our group met at the IUSB Library - all members were present. We began to cut and paste our paper together and assigned a revision schedule to each member.

On Tuesday during peer reviews, Ali and Sandy were our group's correspondant to peer review the other group's report, and since too many editors would slow the process down, Tabitha and I reviewed and made editing plans for our paper and listened to Michael's input.

The only tasks left are to finish editing our final individually, make sure everything is transcribed accurately into wiki, and make final updates as a group on Thursday.

I know everybody works best at different times of the day/ night but make sure all assigned tasks are done BEFORE we meet tomorrow at 10am....no excuses (I now, I sound like a drill sergant) but I am proud of the progress we have made thus far, keep up the good work!

I want to inform you guys that I make my best revisions early in the morning around 5 or 6 am...so this is when I will make my final changes before the groups revises together...so don't be alarmed :o)

I will see you guys tomorrow!
Rachel

Last Post, Last Day

Tonight I will be looking over the paper, the letter to the Japanese Club and writing my memo of analysis.

Our last class was yesterday, and we turned in a rough draft. We also traded our paper with another group. Ali and I decided that we would edit the paper while Tabitha, Rachel and Michael would go over our own paper.

Last night I place my last paragraphs into the paper. Tomorrow morning we are meeting during our regular class time and giving the paper one last touch.

Tomorrow evening Tabitha will hand deliver the letter to the Japanese Club at their Thursday meeting.

Hopefully Thursday or Friday I will deliver a thank you note to Dr. Spitzer for his answers to my questions about websites.

It is the end the end of the semester. While we do not have any time left on our paper, I wonder how realistic this group work is to the real work force. Not to long ago a friend of mine told me that a project he had briefly worked on was finally deployed over one year late. How common are project, such as are’s, are the deadlines pushed back?

April 25th Updated Report

Our report is coming along nicely.

On Monday I met Mike and um...Tim?? at the Purdue Building where we discussed the paper. Hopefully, wiki is going well and the tables and graphs are uploaded!

Tuesday a short workshop meeting was held and additional issues were address. All group memebers were present. Our paper was traded with Neil's group and comments made. Racheal has the paper and is updating comments made on it.

Revisions have been made on the paper since the last meeting. However, there are still two sections that need work. All members are to help finish these.

It was decided that there would be a meeting at the usual class time infront of the lecture door. All members are to be present. We will then move to a computer lab. Our goals for this session are to: update the conculsion as a group, upadate the overview as a group, and update the page numbers.

Tonight I am planning on writing out the reference info. If you used a website please note the date accessed and name of page and possibly an author and when it was last updated.

This is the progress in the paper's final hours...

Monday, April 23, 2007

We had probably our last meeting at the library Sunday evening at 4pm. There we decided our plan of actions for the editing and revisions for our rough and final draft. Michael was the first to review Sunday night, followed by Ali this morning, I am working on it this evening, then I will email it to Tabitha, and she will email it to Rachel. After Rachel does her editing, I want to go through it and give it a final look. I feel that we made adequate progress even though the meeting only lasted a little over an hour, I was the first to leave, having to pay a bill before the mall closed!
I am nervous about this project, especially since Professor LaDow has added the final projects into the grade book. I was excited to see my grade with the additions of previous grades, but I received a nasty shock when I log on this evening.

Sandy

IMPORTANT REMINDER (please read)

Hey guys!

Just wanted to remind you that all members of the group should be actively adding their paragraphs to the paper....your assigned revision day/ night does is NOT the same time as the day you should start adding to the paper. I recommend all group members to have their paragraphs added by midnight tonight.

Thanks!
Rachel

PROJECT PROGRESS

Yesterday, Sunday at 4:00pm all members of Team MATRS met in the library. The meeting lasted an hour and a half and we talked about who in what order would revise our recommendation report. We also talked about what we could do to expand each section of the report.
This morning at 11:00am I uploaded my revised version of the report. I expanded the T-Shirt portion to about a page. The only thing I was confused on what that the tables were put at the end rather than in the report and there were no graphs. I inserted the tables where I thought that they should go, but I am still hoping that Michael can manage to get the information into a graph for me. I think I am going to go back in and insert a graphic of what a possible T-Shirt design could look like.
Sandy is next in line for revisions, so if I can manage to scrounge up some time hopefully I can put it in there before she does her revisions, that way she can see what it looks like.
GOOD PROGRESS FOR TEAM MATRS!! see you all tomorrow!

Update for the Project

Another update in our final paper hours...

This Sunday our group met at the IU campus library at 4:00 on the 5th floor. We met to discuss how the paper was coming. I brought my lab top. We logged on and examined the paper. Turns out it is coming along well.

We also asigned revision lists which are already listed on the blog. Mike was asked to help the team prepare graphs and charts. He will be working with this. Sandy experenced some problems with wiki so Rachel posted her stuff on wiki. I posted the revised letter and the team agreed with this as a good product. Mike also posted a general outline. Sandy, Rachel, and Ali all posted, on wiki (Sandy with Rachel's help), paragraphs for the recomendation report. Rachel also posted a generic outline.

Our group will next meet Tuesday at the usual class time and place. We will workshop our Recomendation Report and fix any errors; this is our goal for the meeting.

I belive we are all excited to see the progress in the paper coming along!

Revision Posting 2

Oh yeah!

Here are our assigned revision colors:

Michael- red
Ali- light blue
Tabitha- dark blue
Rachel- purple
Sandy- green

Important Reminder (please read)

Hey guys!

I wanted to bring to your attention that I replaced Michael's purpose statement with the one in wiki (no offense Mike!! hehe). I just noticed that it sounds waaaay too close to the example purpose statement in the recommendation report that was posted for us...that's kinda plagierizing (which can totally happen by accident!). So best thing to do is to NOT read the example report in detail while writing...that can lead to us sounding exactly like them with our writing without even noticing. Try to refer to the example only when you get really stuck...we're all good writers, we don't need to lean on that...we're TEAM MATRS DANGIT!! lol

Revison Posting

Sunday pm: Mike
Monday am: Ali
Monday pm: Sandy
Tuesday pm: Tabitha
Wednesday pm: Rachel

Due Thursday by end of class.

Weekly Progress (4/17- 4/19)

On Tuesday, our group met at 10 am in our regular class room - all group members were present. We exchanged research information as follows:

Sandy - updated us with website research and email interview with Prof. Spitz (sp?)
Ali - updated research with best t-shirt sell options
Rachel - updated information with color flyer costs from Fed Ex Kinkos per semester
Tabitha - updated information with on campus flyer costs for b&w versus color copies
Michael - was given the task to keep gantt chart updated and possibly start typing ideas for the overview

We decided to start typing on wiki with our research findings thus far, and collaborate in class on Thursday with any further questions.
On Thursday we were given a group test to work on. I wish we could have spent more class time on our report, because with everybody having different schedules, it is very difficult to meet outside of class time. So, we decided to meet on Sunday in the library @ 4 pm. ALL GROUP MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO BE THERE...sorry, not yelling :) See you guys soon!

April 21, 2007

Thursday we made a plan of action for the weekend. We would upload each of our personal information and then individually start editing it. I've tried continuously to put my writing into Wiki, but it will not let me. So I finally sent it to two other team members and asked them to upload it for me.

Sunday we are all meeting at IUSB in the library for a last team meeting. We are going to write a complete overview. The rough draft is due Tuesday in class and the final is due Thursday. I might be a little late to the meeting, I am going to the play Lysistrata at 2 and it suppose to get done at 4, so I should be at the library by (hopefully) no later than 10 after.

TO-DAY

Today we wrote our letter to the Japanese Club as a group. Then we took the "letter quiz" explaining our purpose of the letter to the club.
Last night I uploaded to the resourses page my page about a T-Shirt media solution. I created 2 tables comparing two separate companies pricing and possible profit gained. Michael is going to help me out and change my information into a chart.
Today in class I transferred my information into the WIKI...I did not put the tables in because I am unsure of how to do it still.
The Group planned a meeting this Sunday at 4pm in the IUSB Library. I am supposed to bring the snacks!!LOL

Recomendation Ideas and Misc

Alright so has it been a full week yet!?!?!?

At any rate....our team's last meeting was Tuesday the 17th of April. We met breifly and assigned general rough draft work. Work should be done by Thurs or at least bulleted ideas. Our group is next meeting Thursday during class time at the usual meeting location. Our group will probably assign another time to met online or at campus over the weekend to polish our draft. Unsure about this as of now we will plan this at our next meeting.

I am hopeing to be able to work more in class on the generals of the project. Perhaps, this time would be good to make the charts and figure out which solution is the best with the comparison of the data based on the criteria.

Recomendation Report Ideas:

References
  • First Japenese Club Interview Glenn, Tyler
  • T-shirt website (I believe we can use this as extra doc?)
  • Profesor interviewed by Sandy (also use this as documents)
  • Copy Center Interview Pat Owns
  • Second Japense Club Interview Kingsbury, Jennifer
  • Off campus copy site Kinkos? (sorry...I know we have it just don't remember all the info)
  • Any others I left out????

Also... we could possibly go online to off campus copy site and search for extra doc if needed.

What would be great is if we could divide our work time in class to at least summarize our conclusions (and perhaps half of us write) the discusion of alternatives. While then the other half of the time we finish with conclusions. Dividing it this way should help us link parts together. Just remember to stay with the rubric and list the same criteria in the same order. Perhaps we should discuss this at the meeting.

Sorry this is posted so late! See you all later.

Recommendation Report Outline

I think the basic outline for the report should look something like this.
Overview
Club Needs
Targeted Audience of Club
Evaluation of Criteria
Evaluation of Solutions based on criteria
Recommendation
Conclusion

If you need to look at the example report I uploaded it to the team resource box.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

I finally received a reply to my email interview from Dr. Spitzer about websites. I resent it the email because he normally replies within a few hours, and it was days later. So I believe my first email was lost.
Today we also had a group meeting in class since we did not have a regular class meeting. There we decided our next line of actions about writing our report. Everyone seems to have all of their research completed by now, so we are going to start writing. Our goal is to have our each individual part in place by Thursday evening. We then will start Collective writing everything. Once that is done, each one of us will have a space where we edit and correct the entire paper until we are satisfied.

Meeting! -YES

Ok guys, We NEED to meet tomorrow (Tuesday 4/17). This is how we are going to get started on our paper, and this is how we will be most productive with our time. Let's meet TUESDAY @ 10:00 AM sharp by OUR USUAL CLASS DOOR (DW1250). And then we can move to whatever room we feel best suits our needs. I want to remind everybody that the draft of our paper is going to be due the following Tuesday. Though it may seem like we have some time, it will go by surprisingly fast. So guys, please, lets keep blogging and keep in communication with each other, especially if something comes up. Also no one should leave the meeting tomorrow until they understand how to write using Wiki (this includes myself!!) because this is how we will write our papers. Sandy, I am sorry you don't feel well...if you don't make it to the meeting, please contact at least 2 group members to get caught up with any new info (and to share your own :o) I will see you guys tomorrow! :o)

MEETING?!? please

Okay, tomorrow I have an 8:30 class and a 11:30 class so regardless I will be at school, so I can meet for sure, I think that we should try for our same computer lab as normal or at least one close to there. But if for some reason we do not end up meeting I would like to be informed that way I can go work out or do something productive with my time. But I would very much like to meet provided that the majority of people can come.

Last Thursday we all attended the Japanese Club meeting. Very interesting people those Japanese speakers. Some things caught me a little off guard, but it was a lot of fun. An interview was conducted and we got some more insight as to what the Japanese club wants/needs and what they would like us to do for them.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Hope to see you all tomorrow!

Message to Sandy and Meeting ?

Hey there! Sorry you are feeling ill. If you have recieved any new information would it be possible to blog it? This way when the meeting is held we can compile our data to begin writting the recomendation report.

Shall we all meet by the class door at the usual 10:00 time? Then work in a lab because there is no class, right?

Thanks to all,

TK
Hello Everyone,
I don't know if I'll beable to make it in the meeting tomorrow.
I've caught a nasty bug and it's gotten the better of me.

4/14 Update

Our group went to the Japanese Club meeting. All group memebers were present. An interview was conducted after the meeting. We answered several new questions that our team developed.

Our next meeting time will be Tuesday during class time and at the usually class meeting place. Here we will complie all of our data and begin writing the recomendation report. Also, charts and additional documents will begin to help for our recmendation report.

That is all for now...

4/12

Well today we colaberated about research for the recomendation report. We divided the parts of research. I am researching the on campus charge for copies, racheal is researching the charge for off campus copies, Ali researched the T-shirt costs, Sandy researched the website resources, and Michael is writing up a chart for all of our data and being the recomendation report.

More results latter.

Tabitha Kingsbury

T-shirt possibilities

Today I researched online and played around with some T-Shirt designs on several websites. I managed to get a few quotes from the website of different examples. I found that the more T-Shirts you purchase the cheaper each shirt costs. I also discovered that it costs more if you get a design on the front and on the back. We will present the T-shirt idea tonight at the meeting as well as the research on our other media ideas. I will call around to local printing companies later today to see if their prices compete with the online pricing. The online company also offers a FREE 2-week delivery... I know that if you did it locally you would have to pick up the product yourself, or you would be charged a delivery fee. Hopefully this idea will spark some real plans as to what the Japanese club would like us to do for them.

Last Tuesday to current

Last class we presented our proposal for the Japanese Club to the rest of our class. This class we will continue to work on our recommendation report. Tonight I, as well as other members of the team, plan on attending the Japanese Club meeting at 6:30pm in the SAC. Last night I went out to Panera Bread and saw Sandy there, not that that really has anything to do with what we will accomplish today, I just thought it was nice to see her outside of class. ԿÔ -Ali

meeting

I can meet in the morning before class if need be.

Thursday meeting

Ok,

So after class won't be good for everybody...I forgot about the possibility of having an 11:30 class (sorry!). Who's available to meet at 9:30 am? before class?

Team Meeting tomorrow

Are we meeting after the regular class time or during?
I have a class right after W231, so I'll be in the computer lab during class normal time.

Sandy

Missing Tuesdays class

I just wanted to apologize to the group for missing class on Tuesday. For whatever reason my alarm did not go off and I got up late and left my house a few minutes before 11, which was already too late for the presentation. I would have posted earlier but my laptop died so I had very limited access to the internet.
Hey guys...sorry about last night...My internet would not let me log on...I finally gave up after about an hour....stupid DIAL UP!!!! anyways I will blog later or try and contact you through some email or instant message....my screen name is PHSCheer32 good conversation work though...I haven't completely read it, but I will go through it more later...I'm just at work right now.

Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:02 PM EDT) Hi
Rachel Maria Greer (10:03 PM EDT) ok, bad thing is everybody can read this/our ideas if we post here (says sandy)
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:03 PM EDT) hello
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:03 PM EDT) here I am
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:03 PM EDT) hi
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:03 PM EDT) ah well...
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:04 PM EDT) so what r we doing here
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:04 PM EDT) Well, I was thinking about what they were comsidering for next school year
Rachel Maria Greer (10:05 PM EDT) the club?
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:06 PM EDT) yep
Rachel Maria Greer (10:06 PM EDT) good point
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:07 PM EDT) hey you guys, I just got a yahoo.com name
Rachel Maria Greer (10:07 PM EDT) so what should we do in the next two days?
Rachel Maria Greer (10:07 PM EDT) me too
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:07 PM EDT) sandy_molnar
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:08 PM EDT) well research copy costs
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:09 PM EDT) should we consider a website?
Rachel Maria Greer (10:09 PM EDT) tabitha, do you have a yahoo name?
Rachel Maria Greer (10:09 PM EDT) yes, I want to build one
Rachel Maria Greer (10:10 PM EDT) ok, how about this...we have a brief meeting after class thurs...and we blog any ideas/ instructions tonight and Wed
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:10 PM EDT) ah
Rachel Maria Greer (10:11 PM EDT) what do you guys think?
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:11 PM EDT) I did something to my screen!
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:11 PM EDT) Ah!!!
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:12 PM EDT) hmm
Rachel Maria Greer (10:13 PM EDT) lol! are you getting a fever tabitha?
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:13 PM EDT) Is everything alright?
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:13 PM EDT) lol
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:13 PM EDT) lol maybe....
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:14 PM EDT) Well, I can't think of any other ideas besides a potential website, flyers and posters, and umm... I lost it
Rachel Maria Greer (10:14 PM EDT) ok, I think we need some rest...what about the previous idea I shot out?
Rachel Maria Greer (10:14 PM EDT) blog- wed, meet - thursday, club meeting thurs night?
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:15 PM EDT) yeah I will make sure to call about the meeting thurs
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:15 PM EDT) oh yeah, potentialy have a food festible on campus where they could possible buy or make authientic (sorry sp) and sell small samples
Rachel Maria Greer (10:15 PM EDT) Im all for food samples!
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:16 PM EDT) well do we need to plan events for them? shouldn't we just focus on website, flyers and posters?
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:17 PM EDT) yes, I agree, I wasn't trying to go that extreme
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:17 PM EDT) Rachel, what was your idea? I don't know if I caught it when I came in
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:18 PM EDT) research the cost for copies and the ammount of time at a minum that would be put into maintaining a web site...aka as easy to update a website as possible
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:19 PM EDT) alright
Rachel Maria Greer (10:19 PM EDT) yeah...pretty much the website
Rachel Maria Greer (10:19 PM EDT) sorry for the delay
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:21 PM EDT) alright so then how much time would be required to update a website?
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:21 PM EDT) let us say...1 hour perhaps a month to update events
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:21 PM EDT) thus an email can be sent out to active members for any `canalations
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:22 PM EDT) well, not long at all if you are using all the school materials and know what you are doing
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:22 PM EDT) I am guessing this would be realistic and not too much work to be overlooked
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:22 PM EDT) right
Rachel Maria Greer (10:22 PM EDT) I agree
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:22 PM EDT) and many people in the Japanese club could work with this...theoritically
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:23 PM EDT) however we will have a problem proving this...what do we write about in our report? not much evidence
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:23 PM EDT) right...just connect to the site and check on any updates
Rachel Maria Greer (10:23 PM EDT) not really...we will be able to report it, and give a URL to prove it
Rachel Maria Greer (10:24 PM EDT) but I think Prof ladow liked the movie night idea too
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:24 PM EDT) hmm....but it is unnecessary to creat it...did you want to creat it anyways?
Rachel Maria Greer (10:24 PM EDT) but a starter site will not be too hard...I know it wont...just a little time neede
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:24 PM EDT) I know a Professor that I can email and ask any questions about. He runs his own websites for his classes.
Rachel Maria Greer (10:25 PM EDT) well, I think it would me diff, but productive
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:25 PM EDT) that would be great research!
Rachel Maria Greer (10:26 PM EDT) ok, so sandy has her assignment :)
Rachel Maria Greer (10:26 PM EDT) what about us tabitha?
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:27 PM EDT) not sure?
Rachel Maria Greer (10:28 PM EDT) well, I'll think about it and post ideas tomorrow
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:28 PM EDT) what is next?
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:29 PM EDT) also whatr about our other memebers?
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:29 PM EDT) 1 out of 5 lol
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:29 PM EDT) Alright, I'll email him and get that going. I'll blog results
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:29 PM EDT) great
Rachel Maria Greer (10:30 PM EDT) and I believe ali will read our blogs too
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:31 PM EDT) right
Rachel Maria Greer (10:31 PM EDT) ok guys, time to turn in :)
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:31 PM EDT) yep
Rachel Maria Greer (10:31 PM EDT) at least for me it is
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:31 PM EDT) alright
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:31 PM EDT) have a good night
Sandy Rachel Molnar (10:31 PM EDT) bye
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:32 PM EDT) more law and order!!!
Tabitha Annis DeKeyser (10:32 PM EDT) bye
Rachel Maria Greer (10:32 PM EDT) night!

Sorry so long! But I figured we could use this for our records!
Leaving for a bit, but will be back, or I will post later tonight.

Sandy

Uploading Tip/ reminder

Hey guys!

Just to make sure we are uploading and working on the same documents, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

If the file has already been uploaded, and exists in our team folder, and you would like to add on, or make changes, be sure to click "Revise" by that file and upload it from there.

I find it easiest to open the last updated file and save it to my desktop, make any changes I want, then upload it by clicking on "revise"

This way, we wont have multiple files, and we wont get confused as to which file to open for the final project. :o)

Hope this helps!

Easter Over...Project Begins!

Today I opened the powerpoint to see how far along we have come. I wanted to see how much had been accomplished so i could complete my portion of the powerpoint presentation. I wanted to do it the night we first created it so I wouldn't forget but I was jumping ahead of myself of course because I could not complete my portion without everybody else doing their own parts. So patiently I waited, and I love the progress that has been put into the slideshow so far.
I created my introduction slide as well as changed a few titles to the other slides to make it sound more catchy and fun. So if the group would like to check up on what I have done so far they can change anything they think is necessary.
I think that we have a pretty solid group. Everyone works well together and everyone is so nice. I think this project is going to be quite successful!
I hope everyone had a HAPPY EASTER!!!

Sunday Night Update

I called Rachel Saturday evening, and talked about the proposal and the meeting on Thursday. She informed me of her situation and told me to call Tabitha because she was able to make it to the meeting.
I called Tabitha Sunday night, she informed me that her and Michael were able to make it to Thursday night’s meeting and they interviewed Tyler, the treasurer of the Japanese Club and then posted the answers to 4/5 class questions. I went online and looked up the interview and then went on and completed my slide. I tried to make the entire PowerPoint look similar, but when I went to update my PP, my Oncourse wasn’t working for the upload. Unfortunately this happens a lot, but when I go to school tomorrow, I’ll try it there again.

I think we need to review everything together before we make our proposal to the class to make sure we have everything in correct order.

Weekend Progress

Today is Easter Sunday 4/8/07:

After a very crazy end of the week, I was finally able to sit down and upload my slide (Client needs) to the power point file. I also started to type onto some of the other slides (so guys if you dont like/ agree with any changes, please revise!! I won't mind :)

I was not able to make it to the first meeting of the Japanese club (my car was finishing up from minor surgery) but I did touch base with Tabitha to get details.

I talked to Sandy on the phone on Sat. evening about the club goals and our group progress goals (we really want to start the recommendation paper as early as possible!)

Have a happy holiday guys! Please contact me whenever you need to!

Project Update as of 4/7

4/5

Wow what a day that was!! I was completely rushed! However, the project for our client is progressing. Wiki was introduced in class. After this our team created the powerpoint slides and divided the work as previously mentioned in the blog. I also announced the Japanese club would be meeting that night at 6:30 in the SAC club room.

With our missions assigned we began work...

Around 6:00 Rachel called and said she might not make it this week. Later around 7:30 she called again and we reviewed what passed during the meeting which I will outline later in this blog. Sandy informed us she might be unavaible due to the holiday weekend.

The Meeting
Soon it became 6:30. Michael and I met in the club room. We interviewed Tyler who is the treasure of the Japanese club. After the interview we stayed for the meeting. The meeting consisted of our client discussing summer plans, new elections, and their annual event: ACEN. They also discussed wanting to attract new members and their former memebers. Adding additional events to advertise making the club more fun was also discussed before adjorning the meeting.

Latter that night...

Around 9:10 Ali called to check to see what happened during the meeting. I gave her a quick summary. Ali also reminded me to work on my powerpoint slide. (Thanks!)

Today...4/7

Today I have completed my slide for our project. I have put it into the team 2 folder. I believe our next meeting time is 4/10 at IUSB for a few minutes after class. During this meeting we can discuss our next few steps for the program.

That is the update on project 3.

Interview

I uploaded the interview from Thursday night to the Team 2 dropbox. I apologize for getting them up late.

First Week In

This week was the first dive in for Project 2, we decided on working with the Japanese Club and on Tuesday and Thursday bounced around ideas for the club. The Japanese Club is having a Port-A-Pit chicken sale soon, but it is too late for us to help. So our focus is will be on any upcoming events, or suggestions that they give us. I am hoping that some day next week we can all meet outside of class and discuss the project more thoroughly.

Weekly progress (4/3-4/5)

On Tuesday our group decided that the Japanese Club would be our client. We formed a list of questions to keep in mind for our proposal and recommendation report.

Wiki was introduced to our group on Thursday. We sat through a brief tutorial and learned that Wiki will be the tool used to write our recommendation report. Next, we began compiling our PowerPoint presentation (Ali picked a really nice background color!) Finally, (although each group member will write on every section of the presentation slides) we used a fun method to decide which member of the group would discuss a specific section during the presentation. We drew names! Here is how we will divide our presentation:

Outline/Intro/Overview: Ali
Description of client: Sandy
Need/ problem of client: Rachel
Research accomplished: Tabitha
Conclusion: Michael

More progress…
At about 6:30 pm on Thursday, Michael and Tabitha went to the Japanese club meeting to talk to our client. More group members will be attending the meeting next week.

Today's Adventure

As we worked in the computer lab today, we were introduced to the WIKI program. We messed around with that for awhile, but then it was down to business.
We created a powerpoint and decided who would do which slides. It was a group effort to create the title slide. Personally I think it looks fantastic! I am going to create the Introduction slide. This aspect of the project really makes you realize how much this is a group project because we are having to rely on each other to get this done by next Tuesday! I think we are off to a great start so far, but we need to keep up the good work and don't forget to save your powerpoint slides to the drop box.
Everybody have an awesome weekend, if you need me email me or blog here, I'll be checking regularly. Ta-ta!

Project Update as of 4/4

4/4

Team Matrs last work session was held on the third of April at IUSB. It began after a ten minute lecture and continued until the end of class. The purpose of this session was to determine which club or organization we would work with. After many suggestions Team Matrs developed three ideas: Nap Club, Pet Refurage, and the Japanese Club. Our group collaborated and decided to work with the Japanese Club.

The group seemed to work best procedurely when first we shared ideas, had commentary, developed other ideas, then recieved feedback from our other memebers if they liked this new idea. Finally, we delegated work. This procedure seemed to work best. I believe everyone is contributing very well. All memebers of Team Matrs review what work is to be completed by everyone briefly. This ensures that all have a contribution to make for the next meeting.

My contribution for the next meeting was contacting the president of the Japanese Club, Jen. Jen informed me that the next Japanese meeting is 6:30 pm in the club room upstairs in the SAC. Also, all memebers were assigned to begin making powerpoint slides and put them in the group 2 folder. I have also inserted a brief comment for one slide on the wiki.

The next work session is scheduled for next class. The purpose for this meeting is to prepare for our presentaion to the class and futher develop our powerpoint. Unsure about asignments that are to be completed. Again I would like to mention I called Jen president of the Japanese Club and we left voicemails corresponding to the above information. I have not spoke nor emailed other group embers as of yet.

I hope to have more progress on our in class presentation during the next work session.

Weekend progress

Thursday 3/29: Our group formed and we discussed ideas for our proposals and started a draft gantt chart.
Friday 3/30: I talked to Dr. Karen Pugh- she is on the board at Pet Refuge and has lots of responsibilities with cat adoption. I explained the project to her and asked her if she would be interested. We exchanged phone numbers and she told me she would contact me.
Monday 4/2: I got a call from Dr. Pugh saying that Pet Refuge would be interested in our project. They need help with an event called “Adopt-a-Thon which is held on location at Pet Smart. She told me that they try to advertise themselves every year for this event with little success, and that getting more exposure would be greatly appreciated. The event is on May 5th, so using the rest of April to market this event would help a lot. Guys, please post your comments to let me know what you think. Also when is a good meeting time for outside class work? :)

Sorry guys

Hey Guys it's Ali,
sorry I'm not going to be in class today, I have to go to a funeral. LaDow emailed me back saying that she received our blog. If there is anything that I can do before Thursday please let me know. Email me or blog it on here. I am so sorry for not being there today!

-Ali

ps-I think the japanese club sounds like a good idea to help their chicken fundraiser.
